Theme of the night is polka dots…
New Year’s eve was more “organized” – in my terms – because somehow I get to plan some of the activities on the 31st (ie. what time to wash the plates to be used for dinner :P) I thought I wouldn’t be cooking much but I ended up having to cook a few dishes – estimates aren’t really my thing hah!
I also decided to buy a new camera so we can have better quality photos for new year’s and hopefully the other events in our lives (for this blog too?). With all due love and respect to my Xperia celphone cam, she is trustworthy and does the job with decency but there are some times when you just want that “awww…” moment in a photo 😛
My mother usually gets sad at this time of the year because my lolo (grandfather) past away on NY’s eve so I just made her cook to divert her attention. Good thing it worked so she was more excited and happy this year and you know she’s on her element when she’s having a good fight… with live crabs!
I grew up wearing polka dots on New Year’s eve so I obviously did the same for my kids
Since your supposed to make noises to drive away the bad energies for the new year, but not too much noise to cause stress on your next door neighbors, we just decided to have some karaoke sesh. Surprisingly, my mother who I think I got my awesome singing skills from, weren’t into it that night – she just sang one song lols! She was busy chatting with our relatives on facebook (oh hail technology :P)
Andy didn’t sleep long during the day and after so much running, she just slept early and surprisingly well – she’s the type that would wake up at the slightest hint of sound but not that night. I was even yelling on some of the songs but she didn’t care so we just poked fun at her.
Because there’s nothing really much we can do but to wait till the clock strikes 12, we just sang (Audrey sang Jealous, Fireworks, The Only Exception – reading the lyrics on screen, woohoo!) and drank (Bailey’s anyone?!) and then watched TV at 11:50pm until the TV broadcast of the Marina Bay fireworks display.
We just woke up Andy from sleep to greet her a happy new year. She was, as expected, crying, though she wasn’t crying because we woke her up, it is because she’s annoyed with the noises we make haha!
Around 12:30 almost everyone was already asleep, except ofcourse me and husbandry and I was too lazy to sleep so I just watched the new year’s concert of Big Bang (K-Pop group)… I am now a fan!
I loved the energy that night. It was pleasant, no dramas (c/o we-all-know-who) so for me, this has been the best holidays we’ve had so far and I can only expect that every year will be happier and better.
How’s your New Year’s eve like?
